Most people surveyed say they’re more of a dog person than a cat person. Is it because cats still suffer from their reputation for being too independent? This autonomy that artists and thinkers rightly cherish in these little felines. Yet I have known many cats as loyal and faithful to their “owners” as any dog. It’s just that this confidence is acquired over the long term and can be lost at the slightest misstep.

I’ve also noticed that cats tend to show more distinct and varied personalities than dogs. In today’s increasingly uncertain world, someone looking to adopt a pet might prefer to play it safe by choosing a dog because it is easier for them to know what to expect. In return, they might miss the chance to discover a truly singular companion.

I created this test based both on various scientific studies but also on my own observations and experiences. It remains based on certain “clichés” and does not claim to be 100% objective. Aware of the limits of tests like this, I chose to include the possibility of being both a dog and a cat person.
